Most welcome frequently asked questions
What is the preferred CPU cooler for the Ghost R1?
For those who choose air-cooling, our highest recommendation would be the new Noctua NH-D15 G2. This CPU cooler seems to be tailor-made for the Ghost R1, and while it's incredible to cram such a large CPU cooler in an SFF case, it will keep the most demanding CPUs as cool as a winter breeze.
For those of you opting for liquid-cooling, our top recommendation goes to the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 280 AIO, or if you want to set up a full custom loop, then a chonker up to 60mm thick 280 (side-mounted) rad, such as the Hardware Labs Black Ice Nemesis 280GTX, will best cool both CPU and GPU on a single rad.
Can I fit a 4-slot wide graphics card into a Ghost R1?
As unbelievable as it sounds, a 4-slot GPU no longer than 348mm can be installed in the Ghost R1. The full GPU compatibility list for the Ghost R1 can be found here.
Do the Micro-ATX motherboard and ATX power supply fit in the Ghost R1?
The Ghost R1 is designed to fit either a Mini-ITX or Mini-DTX motherboard and an SFX or SFX-L power supply. While the R1 could technically fit a Micro-ATX board size-wise, by choosing smaller components, the R1 offers more airflow and better cooling, but also far less internal cable clutter, keeping the interior clean and easy to maintain and service.
What is the preferred length of the custom PSU cables for the Ghost R1?
To further reduce cable clutter and increase airflow within the case, these are the preferred custom cable lengths:
24-pin ATX - 250mm
8-pin EPS - 400mm
8-pin PCIe - 200mm (350mm)
12+4-pin 12VHPWR PCIe - 250mm (400mm)
*(cable under GPU)
How many additional case fans can I fit into the Ghost R1?
Depending on the configuration, the Ghost R1 can fit a total of 6 additional fans or 1 x 120mm fan on the back, and up to 2 x 140mm fans on the top, side or bottom of the case.
Which fan configuration should I choose when air-cooling in the Ghost R1?
The best thermal scenario in the Ghost R1 can be achieved in a face-down or flipped orientation (GPU on top) by inverting the intake via a 120mm rear fan through the CPU cooler and exhaust via a side-mounted 140mm fan. This configuration will produce a near-silent build while cooling the most demanding CPUs and GPUs available on the market today.
Are the Ghost S1 MkIII case components compatible with the previous MkII design?
Yes, the MkIII case components such as TopHats and Grills are all backwards compatible with the case and components based on the previous MkII design.
What is the max CPU cooler height that fits into the Ghost S1 and RAW S1?
Ghost S1 can fit CPU coolers up to max 66mm, and RAW S1 can fit CPU coolers up to 77mm height.
What is the preferred CPU cooler for the Ghost S1 and which for the RAW S1?
For those of you who choose air-cooling to keep your CPU cool in the Ghost S1, our highest recommendation would be an award-winning Noctua NH-L12 Ghost S1 Edition. This cooler is custom-tailored for the Ghost S1, and while the cooler barely whispers, it still keeps the powerful CPUs frosty.
As for the RAW S1, we'd suggest even more powerful Noctua NH-L12S, or just recently introduced NH-L12Sx77 CPU cooler as our top recommendation. Alternatively, a Thermalright AXP120-X67 with an additional 25mm thick fan is also a very strong choice for the RAW S1.
Can a Ghost S1 or RAW S1 fit a 3-slot wide graphics card?
The Ghost S1 with a volume of only 8.3 liters can fit a dual-slot GPU with a maximum width of 45mm.
However, the RAW S1 will take a full triple-slot GPU with a maximum width of 65mm.
Will the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series fit in the Ghost S1?
Yes, the Ghost S1 can fit the most popular dual-slot RTX 40 series cards, such as the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER. The full GPU compatibility list for the Ghost S1 can be found here.
Do NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards work with a Cobalt riser cable?
Yes. The Cobalt Gen4+ PCIe 4.0 riser cable, that comes included and pre-installed in the Ghost S1 MkIII and RAW S1, can easily run the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards right out of the box.
Does an ATX power supply fit in the Ghost S1 and/or RAW S1?
No. The Ghost S1 and RAW S1 are designed to fit either an SFX or SFX-L power supply.
What would be the preferred length of the custom PSU cables in the Ghost S1 and RAW S1?
To reduce cable clutter and increase airflow within the case, these are the preferred custom cable lengths:
24-pin ATX - 140mm
8-pin EPS - 260mm
8-pin PCIe - 220mm
12+4-pin 12VHPWR PCIe - 380mm
Can I fit an additional case fan to the Ghost S1 and RAW S1?
Yes. The Ghost S1 can fit up to 1x additional 120x25mm exhaust fan in base XS configuration without a TopHat, mounted directly on the bottom plate, instead of the disc tray.
The RAW S1 will fit 1x 120x25mm exhaust fan, mounted on the rear top fan bracket, and then up to 1x additional 140x25mm exhaust fan on the top frame, instead of the top plate.
Which fan configuration should I choose in the Ghost S1 and/or RAW S1?
Considering the high-density format of the Ghost S1 and RAW S1, it is always recommended to use an exhaust configuration with additional case fans.
The exhaust configuration will create negative pressure inside case and help drive hot air out of the case, which in turn will significantly improve the airflow and thermals of your build.
How many 2.5 inch drives one can fit into the Ghost S1 and RAW S1?
The Ghost S1 MkIII can fit up to 3x 2.5 inch drives. Up to 2x drives can be placed in the disk tray, and 1x drive can be mounted directly on the spine behind the PSU.
The RAW S1 can fit 1x 2.5 inch drive mounted directly on the spine, behind the PSU.
How can I keep my case exterior squeaky clean?
We suggest cleaning the exterior of the case with a microfiber cloth dipped in a little isopropyl alcohol to keep the exterior surfaces spotless and free of fingerprints.
